அறுபது ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் எழுதப்பட்ட இச்சிறுகதைகள் இன்றைய நவீன சூழலுக்கும் பொருத்தமாக அமைந்திருப்பது ஆச்சரியம்.

Rudra. Thulasidhas popularly known as Ilambharathi in literary world, is a prolific  and multifaceted writer, who has authored many poems, short stories, science literature and children’s literature. He has been contributing to the literary world for the past seventy years, though he was a chemistry professor by profession. He has shown his proficiency in translating the books written in many languages like Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit and English into Tamil.

Ilambharathi was born in Ilayarasanendhal, a village in Thirunelveli district, TamilNadu on July 2, 1933. Ilambharathi did his schooling in M.D.T. Hindu Higher Secondary School, Thirunelveli and Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School, Chennai. He did his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.,) in Chemistry from The American College, Madurai and completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.,) from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. Later he did M.Phil. from Madurai Kamaraj University.

He has been contributing to the literary world since 1949. He started his journey by writing in very popular magazines including but not limited to Manjari, Deepam, Amudhasurabi, Kalki, Kalaimagal, Ponni, Vindhiya, Veerakesari. He published his debut novel ‘Geetha’ in the year 1954.

Out of many translations, the Malayalam novel ‘Mayvazhip puzhayude Theerangalil’ written by Shri. Mugundhan and translated by Ilambharathi bagged SAHITHYA AKADEMY AWARD, a literary honor by the president of India  for his translation in the year 1998.

The centenarian Trust of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has conferred SEVA RATNA AWARD  or the year 1999 for getting Sahithya Akademi Award for translating the Malayalam novel into Tamil and for getting twice the Government of India Prize for translating Telugu short-stories and Telugu poems.

He also has been awarded by the Government of India, Thiruppur Tamil Sangam and Nalli Thisai Ettum for his translations.

He had close association with the prominent writers in Tamil such as Pavaendhar Bharathidasan, Thiru, Na. Parthasarathy, Thiru. Puthumai Piththan, Thiru. Jayakanthan, Thiru. Kaviko Abdul Rahman, Kavigar. Meera, Thiru. T.K. Kalapriya, Thiru. Thiriloga Seetharam, Thiru. Vijayathiruvengadam, Thiru. Thiruppur Krishnan, Thiru. Indiran  and many more.
